Ritual Roasters 2.0
January 21st, 2007This just in from one of our embedded correspondents on the front lines of the San Francisco Coffee Wars: a sketch of the new Ritual Roasters site, a lush green semi-outdoor space somewhere in San Francisco. Sources say the new cafe will open in May.
UPDATE: It’s open now. It’s south of Cesar Chavez, off 3rd Street, at 1634 Jerrold Ave. (map).

That’s cool to be named as the PlaceSite CEO in the article. Just wondering what’s a naked portafilter?
That URL on Flickr is blocked here in the UAE.
A portafilter is that metal thing with a handle that you fill with ground coffee, tamp down and then fit onto an espresso machine to pull an espresso. A “naked” one lacks the bottom part which channels the espresso into cup(s), but without a bottom it’s easier to see how the espresso extraction is going, whether the water’s flowing through the ground coffee evenly or not.
I don’t know what Flickr URL you’re referring to. But as for the UAE, you really should bypass those fascists.. Setup an ssh tunnel or Tor or something.
[…] UPDATE: Cheesebikini? dispells rumors that Ritual is working on a new place, to open sometime this year, complete with outdoor area. No word yet whether it’s true, or where in S.F. it would be. But a relish-worthy thought… […]
Wait – that’s just Flora Grubb with a Roasters inside.
